Converse Chuck Taylor 70 Hi Run Star Hike - Black

Few sneakers have had as monumental an influence as the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star. Though founded in 1917 with the intention of crafting the All-American basketball shoe, it was the arrival of semi-professional basketball player Charles "Chuck" Taylor at the company that revolutionised their trademark sneaker. Bearing Chuck Taylor's seal of approval, from the 1920s to the 1970s, the Converse All-Star became the basketball shoe of choice for players all over. Sensing the appeal of the shoe off the court, in 1957 Converse launched the low-cut "Oxford" style shoe and began producing the All-Star in a number of colourways.

Adapting to new demands in the sneaker market—particularly renewed enthusiasm for the chunky sneaker—Converse designed the Run Star Hike. Inspired by the classic Chuck Taylor All-Star design that prompted the shoe's adoption by disparate subcultures across the US and the world, the Run Star Hike adapts the iconic shoe with an eye for comfort and style, incorporating the two-tone sawtooth tread from the original Converse Run Star and a platform sole.

Here in the Black colourway, the Converse Chuck Taylor 70 Hi Run Stark Hike features a classic Chuck Taylor All Star canvas upper and rubber toe cap; the classic all-star ankle patch; winged stitching on the tongue for increased durability; OrthoLite insole for superior comfort; smartFOAM sock lining for extra cushioning; moulded platform sole; rounded heel; two-tone, sawtooth-style rubber outsole for increased grip; and the rubber One Star chevron at the heel.
