The ongoing series of collaborations between British cult label Fred Perry and avant-gardist Raf Simons has produced some of the most memorable celebrations of British subcultures in recent years. The two labels have made particularly inventive use of photographic prints from archival sources detailing the punk and ska subcultures of the 70s and 80s.
The provenance of this season's graphic materials comes from the recently-published 100 Club Stories photobook produced by publisher Ditto in collaboration with Fred Perry. With a particular focus on the "100 Club Pink Special" — an event at the legendary London club where punk bands such as the Sex Pistols, The Clash, and The Damned made early appearances — the book evokes the energy of that crucial time in music history, identifying what made the space so special at that time without demystifying its legendary status.
