The Collection

In a year marred by colossal uncertainty, we've never needed people to say it straight more than now. In 2020, facts are key. It is in no way controversial to say that Los Angeles-based label Pleasures have never been ones for subtlety. For this reason, the title of Alex James and Vlad Elkin's label's most recent collection, "metaphorically speaking," is kind of confusing. With pieces featuring slogans that initially strike with the force of political declaration, we're left looking for more. In short, Pleasures are fucking with us. Some things really are still business as usual.

The Garment

While pants might prove a more difficult garment to turn into a provocation, Pleasures always seem to find a way, even if it must be in a more subtle way than with their graphic print tees or audacious outerwear experiments. Pleasures are acutely aware of this, evinced in the name of the Shock Stripe Pants. "Shock" here is pure tongue-in-cheek hyperbole, referring to the playful gesture of inversion of the formal pinstripe pant that these trousers manifest. In this simple inversion, acheived with the leg split into two colours down the middle, this symbol of business attire turns into something else entirely. The only shock is the ease at which Pleasures acheive this. Cut from a cotton-wool blend, this straight-leg pant also features two side slant pockets; two back welt pockets with button closure; and Pleasures branding embroidered above the back right pocket.

Model is 175cm and wears size 30.
